Local singer featured in 'Music Sandwiched In' concert Tuesday at library

The Cherokee County Public Library will present the John Floyd session players and the library's own Leonard Pearson as vocalist on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 12:15-1 p.m. for the January "Music Sandwiched In" concert.

Rife with huskey vocals, steady bass lines and soulful keyboards, Leonard and John and company make music that is a loving homage to Motown and the great soul singers of the 60s and 70s.

Pearson has worked at the library for three years. Floyd, born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has lived in the Carolinas for 11 years. He has played the bass guitar for 30 years. John and his musical partner, "Mr. Piano" Bob Stephens, of the 70s soul group, the "Ohio Players," have worked together for two years.

"This concert is sure to please the soul purists and folks who just appreciate great music," said Kenny Covington, director of adult programming and public relations at the library.
