POLICE REPORTS

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the trashing of a man's possessions.

According to a police report, a McIntire Road, Blacksburg, resident returned home Jan. 6 to find his couch, mattress and clothing cut up and thrown outside the home.

Damage is estimated at about $1,300.

Almost $800 in personal possessions were reported stolen from a self storage unit on Peachoid Road.

According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone burglarized a unit at Advanced Self Storage rented by a McKowns Mountain Road resident between Nov. 1 and Jan. 6.

A set of pots and pans, four dresses, an ankle brace and a 7-gallon vacuum were missing from the storage unit.

A kerosene can and a toolbox were stolen from a shed on Possum Trot Road in Blacksburg between Jan. 6 and Jan. 7.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone damaged the lock on the shed to gain access to the building in the 200 block. The stolen items are valued at about $240.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported thefts from three vehicles parked in a 13th Street parking lot Jan. 7.

According to separate police reports, a Nokia cell phone valued at $79 was taken from one car, a digital music player and purse valued at a combined $210 were taken from a second vehicle, and a purse, cell phone, saw and a pocket knife valued at a combined $315 were taken from the third vehicle.

The incidents occurred in the 600 block.

Two of the cars were listed in the police reports as being unlocked.

An Easy Street woman reported the theft of a billfold from her home.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the woman's billfold was taken from her bedroom between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Jan. 6. The billfold and contents are valued at about $25.

An all-terrain-vehicle was reported stolen from a Gardner Road property on Jan. 7.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a dark blue Quinqi 150-3 ATV was taken from the 200 block between 3 p.m. Jan. 6 and 4 p.m. Jan. 7.

The ATV had light blue paint on the right rear tire and fender. It is valued at $1,600, making the theft a grand larceny.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that took place on Pacolet Highway on Jan. 8.

According to a police report, Eric Shawn Gardner, 39, of Lovers Hill Road, sustained a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen and lower back at 3909 Pacolet Hwy. at about 9:57 p.m. on that date. His status wasn't immediately clear as of Sunday.

Two of the main trauma hospitals in the region, Spartanburg Regional and Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, did not list him as a patient, according to hospital spokespeople reached Sunday.

Two suspects were listed in the police report but no arrests had been reported as of Friday. The names of the suspects did not show up in the list of inmates at the Cherokee County Detention Center on Sunday. Police released few details about the shooting incident, and what might have sparked the incident.

The Blacksburg Police Department is investigating a report of a Peeping Tom at a North Mountain Street truck stop.

According to a police report, a female truck driver was taking a shower at the Flying J. Truck Plaza on Jan. 6 at about 2 p.m. when she opened the shower curtain and noticed someone looking under the bottom of the door. As the woman grabbed a towel, the peeper jumped up and left. The woman could only tell police the individual in the room was a white person who did not wear glasses. Police have no suspects.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a strongarm robbery that allegedly occurred on Filter Plant Road between Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, as well as financial transaction fraud that occurred after the robbery.

According to a police report, a 27-year-old man was assaulted by three people who took his wallet and cell phone. Subsequent to the robbery, the man claimed someone used his bank card to conduct business at a McDonald's, Bank of America and other locations.

Three suspects were named in the report but no charges were filed as of Friday.

A windshield was smashed by a vandal on West Carolina Street in Blacksburg.

According to the Blacksburg Police Department, someone apparently jumped on the hood of a 1996 Dodge Caravan and smashed the windshield between 9 p.m. Jan. 7 and 6 a.m. Jan. 8 while the vehicle was parked in the 100 block of West Carolina Street. The damage was estimated at $100.

A handgun was reported stolen from a Wright Street, Blacksburg, home.

According to the Blacksburg Police Department, the gun owner was asked about his weapon when a witness saw it in the possession of another man. The gun owner then went to determine the location of his gun and discovered it missing from his home. The .38-caliber handgun was stolen between Jan. 7 and Jan. 8.

A car was reported stolen Jan. 8 from a Serene Drive property.

According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, a blue Saturn was taken from a driveway in the 400 block between 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The car was valued at $5,000.

Police reported a possible break-in on North Logan Street on Jan. 9.

According to a report, someone broke out the side window of a home in the 900 block at about 12:15 a.m. The homeowner did not see anyone around the house. Police said they found a 5-gallon bucket turned over outside the window. Damage was estimated at $100.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported a stolen vehicle on 5th Street.

The white 1992 Honda Accord EX was taken from the 400 block between Dec. 22 and Dec. 31. A police report wasn't released until last week.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a Jeep that was subsequently involved in a wreck.

According to a police report, the black Jeep Cherokee owned by a Spartanburg woman was taken from the 1100 block of Hamrick Street early Jan. 9. The Jeep was found wrecked on the road a short time later.

The vehicle was valued at $20,000.
