Property owners have until Jan. 15 to file appeal with county tax office

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Staff Writer larry@gaffneyledger.com

The clock is ticking on new property owners who have a beef with the appraised value of their property.

This includes appraisals for new construction and people who have acquired property in 2008. They have until Thursday, Jan. 15 to file an appeal with the Cherokee County Tax Assessor.

The new property appraisals relating to the 2008 countywide property reassessment should be mailed to property owners in the spring, according to Cherokee County Assistant Administrator Holland Belue.

The software company is currently analyzing the reassessment data in preparation for printing the reassessment notices.

Property owners will have 90 days to appeal those reassessment notices.
