Two charged with criminal sexual conduct

By TIM GULLA Ledger Staff Writer tim@gaffneyledger.com

A 20-year-old city man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested Wednesday and charged with the kidnapping and first degree criminal sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl inside a Huntington Square apartment Tuesday night.

The Gaffney Police Department charged both men as adults in arrest warrants but are withholding releasing the juvenile's name pending a decision by the 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office as to whether he will be tried as an adult or juvenile.

No decision has been made yet in that regard.

The 20-year-old, identified as Marcus Obrien Littlejohn, 608 Marion Ave., appeared before Gaffney Municipal Court Judge Wade Weatherford III on Wednesday for a bond hearing and was lodged at the Cherokee County Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bond.

The juvenile also appeared before the judge and was denied bond. He was being held by the Department of Juvenile Justice, according to police.

The victim allegedly was inside a Huntington Square apartment just after 10 p.m. Jan. 6 when she was forced to go to an upstairs bedroom in the apartment and was thrown on a bed and her clothes pulled off, according to statements provided to police.

The 16-year-old male is accused of holding the 15-yearold girl down while Littlejohn is accused of engaging in a sexual assault on her. The 16-yearold allegedly forced himself on her after Littlejohn left the room.

A police report alleges there were five other people in the apartment at the time of the incident. Police conducted interviews with them Wednesday.

Det. Sgt. Ron Ramsey is leading the investigation.
