Verona D. Edwards
SPARTANBURG - Verona Violet Darby Tuggle Edwards of 375 Serpentine Drive, formerly of 106 Idlewylde Court and Maranatha Manor, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Emma Mae Browning Darby and widow of Linwood Alfred (Chief) Edwards. She was a member of the Antique Car Club and St. James United Methodist Church. Mrs. Edwards loved to work in and care for her yard.
Survivors include a son, Charles Tuggle of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Nettie Davis; two brothers, Howard Darby of Gaffney and John Darby of Ormand Beach, Fla.; one grandson; three granddaughters; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Hall, and three brothers Vernee, James and Charles Darby.
Graveside services will be held Monday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Woody Wiggins.
