Alice Coleman Ratchford, 87, of Gaffney died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Gaffney, she was a daughter of the late Anthony Coleman and the late Nannie Bratton Coleman and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.B. ("Sleepy") Ratchford, and a daughter, Alice Gayle Johnson.

Surviving are three sons, James Ratchford (Geanie) of Barstow, Calif., M.B. Ratchford Jr. of Gaffney and Franklin Ratchford (Audrey) of Columbia; a daughter, Gloria Orr of Stamford, Conn.; a sister, Minnie Coleman Harden (Henry) of Flint, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Friday, Jan. 16, at noon at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Burnside officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Gilmore Mortuary.
