Charles R. Monk Sr.
Charles Russell Monk Sr., 79, of 220 Gloria Lane, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Fla.
Born in Ojus, Fla., Mr. Monk was the husband of Arzelia Sheffield Monk and son of the late John Gordon and Mamie Agnus (Carne) Monk. He worked as a mechanic supervisor
for Anchorage
School District, was
of the Baptist faith, and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
Also surviving are a daughter, Shunnie A. Bauser and husband, Robert, of Avonlake, Ohio; three sons Charles R. Monk Jr. and wife, Cynthia, of Charlotte, N.C., David B. Monk and wife, Susan, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three step-sons, Bill D. Beekman and wife, Shirley, of Gaffney, Mike Beekman and Ron Beekman and wife, Linda, all of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Ometa Sheffield of Ft. Myers, Fla. and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Monk was preceded in death by a step-son, Charles Raymond Beekman.
No services have been scheduled.
Family members are at their respective homes.
