Limestone fell to Nebraska- Omaha, 42-9, and to Chadron State, 25-12.

The Saints return to action on Saturday, Jan, 17, when they host the Limestone Duals.

BC hires veteran assistant

Frank Spaziani is the new football coach at Boston College, promoted after spending 12 seasons as an assistant with the Eagles.

Spaziani takes over for Jeff Jagodzinski, who was fired after he interviewed for the coaching job with the New York Jets. Jagodzinski, who had three years left on his five-year contract, had been told by athletic director Gene DeFilippo that he would be fired if he went through with the interview. DeFilippo has said he wants a coach who will serve out the full length of his contract.

Spaziani spent the past 10 seasons as BC's defensive coordinator after two years as running backs coach. He became interim coach in 2006 when Tom O'Brien left to become coach of North Carolina State before the Eagles played in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. BC beat Navy 25-24 in that game.

Spaziani was passed over for the coaching job when DeFilippo went outside the college to hire Jagodzinski, then offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers.

Giant receiver back in court

Plaxico Burress is in court again.

A civil trial is scheduled to begin today in Pennsylvania to determine how much the New York Giants wide receiver will have to pay in damages for a car he leased before it was impounded by New York City police.

Court papers say a Lebanon County car dealer allowed Burress in 2006 to borrow a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche worth more than $36,000 in exchange for Burress agreeing to sign autographs at promotional events.

"I thought it would be good for my business," the dealer, Frederick Laurenzo, said in an interview Tuesday.

Laurenzo's civil complaint says Burress never showed up to sign autographs and did not return the car. Laurenzo also says the car was seized by New York City police after Burress let someone else use it.

The complaint did not disclose the extent of the damage to the vehicle, to whom Burress loaned the vehicle or the reason police impounded it.

Tech's Crabtree heads to NFL

Two years of college football, two years of being chosen the best receiver in the country. There wasn't much left for Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree to accomplish.

So now he's eager to see how he'll do in the NFL. Crabtree said Tuesday he's giving up his final two years of eligibility because he thinks he's ready for pro football. The first challenge is finding out how high he'll go in the draft.
