Laurens (Lonnie) Moore
      Laurens Potter Moore, 89, formerly of 500 S. Petty St., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Summit Hills in Spartanburg. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Haynes Fultz of Moncks Corner. Mr. Moore was born in Gaffney and was the son of Major Henry Carlton and Eloise Potter Moore.

Jack Donahue Jr.
      Jack Alonzo Donahue Jr., 56, of 166 Brendon Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Jane Gillfillan Donahue and son of Jack Alonzo Donahue Sr. and the late Nellie Fortenberry Donahue. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and was formerly employed by Nestlé.

      BLACKSBURG - David William "Cooter" Carroll, 52, of 594 W. Carolina St., Lot 6, passed away Sunday Jan. 11, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Carroll was the husband of Leslie Nichols Carroll and son of the late Love Elbert Carroll and the late Lily Mauney Carroll. He worked as a truck driver and attended Rapture Ready Church.

Daughter of the late Broadus W. Jefferies Sr. and the late Jessie Mae Stevenson Jefferies, she was a native of Cherokee County.

      BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Rev. C.A. Kirby Jr., 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m. at Boiling Springs (N.C.) Baptist Church with burial in Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 15, from 1-3 p.m. at the church.
