Loran Douglas (Doug) Hester, 65, of 337 Dry Fork Road, Gaffney, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Thomas and Elizabeth Hamrick Hester.

Surviving are a son, Brian Hester of Hewitt, N.J.; a daughter, Wendy Napoliello of Toms River, N.J.; a brother, Jake Hester of Gaffney; two sisters, Glenda Dingus of Gastonia, N.C., and Ruth Elliott of Blacksburg; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held in New Jersey.
