Limestone College sponsoring Red Cross blood drive Feb. 6
Every two seconds someone in our country needs blood.
To help save the lives of family and friends in need, Limestone College is sponsoring its third American Red Cross blood drive of the year on Friday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the banquet room at Stephenson Dining Hall.
Limestone College blood donors have been a significant provider of blood over the last six years, each year increasing the number of donations.
"It is a wonderful lesson to teach the students that giving back to their community is important and personally fulfilling. During the current economic crisis, many people, not just students, do not have the funds to donate to a worthy cause, but they do have blood," a Limestone College spokesman said. "Almost everyone can afford to give blood. It only costs about an hour of your time and it is a gift that has no price tag."
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years if accompanied by a parent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Donors must have photo identification or an American Red Cross donor card.
For more information or to schedule an appointment to donate blood, call the Office of Student Services at Limestone, 864-488-8373. All donors will be eligible to enter into a drawing for one of three regionally drawn pair of Delta round trip airline tickets and will also receive an American Red Cross T-shirt.
