POLICE REPORTS A storage building on Peeler Creek Road was burglarized recently. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered the storage building in the 100 block between Jan. 22 and Jan. 27. The only items reported missing were rifle bullets. More than $1,000 in electronics, jewelry and sneakers were taken from a Red Bud Lane home following a Jan. 27 burglary. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the homeowner found his front door unlocked at about 4:40 p.m. and his dining room window broken out. Missing from the home were a Playstation 3 game system, eight Playstation games, three gold-colored charms, a pair of brown, white and burgundy Nike Jordan sneakers, a jar of change and a Phillips surround sound system. A truck stolen from a Spartanburg company was recovered Jan. 27 near Highway 29 and Interstate 85, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Police said the Ford F550 XL Super Duty flat bed found at about 2 p.m. belonged to Watts Bros. Cable Construction of Spartanburg. Fingerprints were lifted from the vehicle and police noted the key switch on the steering column had been broken. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the theft of audio equipment from a car parked outside a Union Highway bowling alley. According to a police report, someone entered a vehicle parked outside Westlane Bowl between 6:45 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. on Jan. 26 and stole a subwoofer speaker box with two 12-inch speakers. The box was valued at $500. Three weapons were reported stolen from a Wilkinsville Highway home following a Jan. 24 break-in. According to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered a residence in the 600 block between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and took a black-colored Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol, a silver-colored Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol and a Winchester rifle chambered for the 30-30 cartridge. The guns were valued at a combined $1,100. About $3,000 in theft and damage losses were reported following the recent discovery of copper theft at a vacant home. According to the Gaffney Police Department, a home owned by First Citizen Bank in the 300 block of Elm Street had been vacant for the past year. Recently, it was discovered that someone had stripped the home of copper and an air conditioning unit. A Peachoid Road business reported the theft of a trailer from its parking lot. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the 8- foot by 5-foot 1980 Fruehauf trailer was taken from Hames Music, 370 Peachoid Road, between Jan. 23 and Jan. 24. The trailer was valued at $1,000. Approximately $900 in electronics were stolen last week from three parked vehicles on Oakdale Road in Cowpens. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the break-ins occurred in the 600 block. Among the items missing from the vehicles were two CD players, two laptop computers and a portable DVD player. A 42-inch television was stolen from an Old Factory Road home in Blacksburg following a Jan. 24 break-in. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, someone forced open a door to the home in the 600 block to gain entry between 4:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The Toshiba television taken from the home was valued at $2,500. Two pellet guns, change and hand tools were missing from a Coyle Road home following the recent break-in of an outbuilding. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone cut a lock to gain access to the building in the 200 block between Jan. 19 and Jan. 23. About $100 in change, a pellet gun, a pellet pistol and miscellaneous hand tools were taken. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to a break-in on Hopewell Road in Blacksburg on Jan. 24. According to a police report, someone broke into the residence in the 900 block and took a Mossberg shotgun, a lamp, table and curtains. The items were valued at approximately $500. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the grand larceny of a purse from a car on East Jones Street in Blacksburg. According to a police report, the purse and contents were estimated at $2,500. The purse was removed from the vehicle while it was parked in the 200 block between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Jan. 21. A Lexus automobile was reported stolen from a Blackwell Road, Blacksburg, garage Jan. 25. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the white-on-gray 1995 Lexus GS 300 was taken from a garage in the 300 block between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 8:30 a.m. Jan. 25. Clothing was missing from a second vehicle. The Lexus had a South Carolina tag number of BFU963. It was valued at $8,000. The Gaffney Police Department reported the theft of a truck on Barclay Avenue. According to a police report, a white 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup was taken from the front yard of a home in the 400 block between 11 p.m. Jan. 25 and 6:26 a.m. Jan. 26. The truck had a University of South Carolina Gamecock tag on the front and work ladders on the back. It was valued at $2,000. The Gaffney Police Department is investigating the assault of a 52-year-old man near North Logan and 3rd Street on Jan. 24. According to a police report, the 52-year-old victim was walking home at about 7 p.m. when four men jumped on him. The victim told police he was unable to see his attackers because he was struck with an unknown object, causing him to lose consciousness.
