John Calhoun Thompson, Jr., 60, of Philadelphia, Pa., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospice in Philadelphia.

Born in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late John C. Thompson Sr. and Gwendolyn

Watkins Thompson. He was veteran of the U.S.Air Force

Surviving are two sons, John Paul Dennis and Marc Columbus Thompson, and a daughter, Tawanda Campbell, all of Philadelphia; two brothers, Bilal Muhammad (Barbara) of Clayton, Del., and Michael Thompson of Gaffney; two sisters, Hildred J. Thompson (Freeman) of Inman and Elizabeth Jamasina Thompson of Philadelphia; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two aunts, Mary E. Watkins and Gloria E. Watkins of Gaffney.

The family is at the home of Michael Thompson, 806 Spring St., Gaffney.

Services will be held Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m. in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Gaffney Memorial Park.
