Lady Indians fall into three-way tie for first with defeat

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Logan Davis came off the bench to score a season-high 17 points but it wasn't enough to stop the Gaffney Lady Indians from falling in a 3-way tie for first place with a 40-27 loss at Nation Ford on Tuesday.

It was the second straight defeat for the Lady Indians, who fall to 5- 2 in the region.

Nation Ford and York are also 5-2 in the region.

Gaffney coach Stacey Parris was forced to change her rotation because of disciplinary reasons. The result was a team that couldn't find its offensive groove.

"We had a problem we had to take care of and we played some people out of position," Parris said.

It also didn't help that the Lady Indians shot a horrible 3 of 23 from the free throw line. By comparison, Nation Ford missed just two free throws.

Kierra Phillips added seven points for the Lady Indians, who were still in striking distance at the end of the third quarter. But Gaffney mustered just six fourthquarter points, allowing Nation Ford to pull away for the victory.

After three straight road games, the Lady Indians return home Friday to face Fort Mill.

"We had three tough games on the road, but it will be good to be home," the Gaffney coach said. "We'll work on some things in practice."
