Denzelle Good Denzelle Good Gaffney's Denzelle Good knew exactly where he wanted to spend the next four years.

Despite interest from other schools and a scholarship offer from Maryland, Good, one of the top five players in the state according to a recruiting service, signed today with North Carolina State.

Good's stock rose even higher after an impressive week of practice at the Shrine Bowl. In the game, Good, at 6-5, 321 lbs., showed his agility by making a touchdown-saving, open-field tackle of North Carolina defensive back Quan Rucker in the third quarter.

Good finished the season with more than 30 pancake blocks and 40 knockdown blocks.

Good wasn't the only Indian to sign a national letter of intent. Gaffney defensive lineman Darius Dawkins signed with North Carolina A&T. The Division I-AA school is located in Greensboro.

Dawkins also attracted interest from Western Carolina.

Blacksburg High wide receiver Chris Hames signed a letter of intent with Newberry College.

Chris Hames Chris Hames Hames was an All-Region wide receiver for Blacksburg last season.

In other recruiting news, Gaffney speedster and rising senior Joe Craig was invited to the University of Georgia's underclassmen day. According to a website, Craig is expecting an offer from the Bulldogs. He was quoted as saying he might also be receiving an offer from Clemson in the near future.

Craig began the season at quarterback before moving to wide receiver.
