ON CAMPUS
Blacksburg resident Cierra S. Hogue was named to the Dean's List at Francis Marion University for the 2008 fall semester. Hogue was among 15 part-time students to be named to the Dean's List. Part-time students on the Dean's List earned a grade point average for the semester between 3.25 and 3.749. Students must have declared a major and completed at least 12 hours at Francis Marion.
CLEMSON - Ten Gaffney students had outstanding accomplishments during the fall semester and have earned inclusion on the Dean's List at Clemson University. To be named to the Dean's List a student must achieve a gradepoint average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.
Named to the Dean's List were Benjamin J. Alexander, Electrical Engineering; Joel Gregg Babcock, Architecture (BA); James William Blanton, General Engineering; Ashley M. Bowman, Secondary Education (English); Kristen Lee Coggins, PRTM (Therapeutic Recreation); Blaine E. Lowry, Civil Engineering; Michael Madis McCraw, General Engineering; Jennifer D. Moore, Communication Studies; Samantha J. Ramsey, Mechanical Engineering; and Justin E. Sarratt, Management.
CLEMSON - Adam McCarty Murray and Samantha J. Ramsey, both of Gaffney, were among the 1,112 students at Clemson University who received their degrees during Clemson's Dec. 18, 2008, commencement ceremony.
Murray received a B.S. in Civil Engineering and Ramsey received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
GREENVILLE - Local students Sara J. Berry, Sarah M. Hughey and Peter M. Johnson have been named to the Dean's List for the 2008 fall term at Furman University. Furman's Dean's List is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher on a four-point system.
Berry is daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Scott Berry, Hughey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Hughey and Johnson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Johnson, all of Gaffney.
CHARLESTON - Cadet Tammy A. Howard of Gaffney achieved Dean's List status at The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina, for the fall semester of the 2008-2009 academic year. Howard is seeking a B.A. in Psychology.
Dean's List recognition is given to those cadets and active duty military students registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester's work.
Howard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell M. Howard III.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Starlet L. Wilkins of Gaffney, whose major is athletic training, was named to the Honor Roll List for the fall semester at Gardner- Webb University.
The Honor Roll at Gardner- Webb recognizes outstanding college students who achieve a GPA between 3.2 and 3.7 through outstanding academic contribution during a semester.
Christian actor Rich Swingle will be presenting The Acts on Monday, February 9 at Limestone College.
The performance will be held in the Carroll Recital Hall at 7 p.m.
It is free and open to the public.
The Acts tells the story of the first century Church.
Swingle has performed in hundreds of venues in 17 nations, mostly with eight one-man plays he has written.
He has performed and/or taught workshops in 20 colleges or universities
