Fund raisers

The Senior Centers of Cherokee County is sponsoring its seventh annual Lost Penny Day. The organization is asking everyone to find lost pennies and bring them to the Gaffney or Blacksburg senior centers by Feb. 27. All donations will be used for the home-delivered meal program. To help a senior adult receive meals each week. look for those pennies and turn them in. For more information, call Leslie Pearson, 487-2725.

Church news

The Voice of Triumph, 179 Corry Road, Blacksburg, will have a fund-raising banquet Friday, Feb. 13. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door for $7. Eat-in or take-out. The meal will consist of baked ham or barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes/ gravy, green beans, cole slaw, hot roll, dessert and beverage. Funds raised will be used for the church's heating costs. Your ticket presented will qualify you for a drawing to follow the meal with over 30 gift certificates to be given away, donated by local restaurants. Call the church at 839-0111 for tickets or information. You do not have to be present to win.

School news

Blacksburg High School will only accept flower deliveries on Thursday, Feb. 12, for Valentine's Day. Flowers should be delivered after 1 p.m. No glass and balloons are allowed on school buses. Blacksburg High is not responsible for unclaimed deliveries.

Singing Valentines

The Limestone College Chorus will deliver singing Valentine telegrams Feb. 12- 14. For only $25 dollars, you can give your loved one a surprise with a live performance of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "Sugartime" or "You Are My Sunshine" along with a small gift. Church news

Women's Day will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Speaker for the morning worship service will be the Rev. Mary Johnson.

The Missionary Department of Allen Temple CME Church will have a special program Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3:30 p.m. Speaker will be the Rev. Sherman Davis, pastor of New Trinity Christian Fellowship Church, who will be accompanied by his choirs and congregation. A skit, "The Slothful Missionary," written by Evangelist Judy Dover, will also be presented.

Support groups

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 6 p.m. For information call, 1-800-828- 5689.

The City of Gaffney Sanitation Department will observe Monday, Feb. 16, as a holiday. Monday's route will be picked up on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Residents should have carts on the curbside by 7 a.m. that day
