Carl W. Dowdle, 74, of 404 6th St., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Dowdle was the son of the late Wade and Falba M. Harrison Dowdle. Born in Gaffney, he was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. He attended Limestone College for his undergraduate studies and received his Master's degree from Converse college.

Mr. Dowdle was a retired school teacher and leaves behind numerous cousins.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Dr. Clyde Thomas, pastor of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, and Dr. Ben Davis, president of Connie Maxwell Children's Home, officiating.
