St. Paul's Lutheran Church hosts Winter Wonderland dinner, auction
Proceeds from Feb. 28 event will fund youth mission trip, national retreat
St. Paul's Lutheran Church members Rand Stratton, Ron Andrews, Terry Dennis and Merle Reams make final plans for a Winter Wonderland dinner that is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. at the church. The event is a fundraiser for a youth mission trip to Myrtle Beach and a national retreat to Salt Lake City, Utah. Afamous suspense novelist and mystery author will play important roles in helping a Lutheran youth group perform mission work in Salt Lake City.
Autographed books by Dean Koontz and Katherine Coultier are among the items to be auctioned during a Saturday, Feb. 28, fundraising dinner at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The auction will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6.
Gift certificates for meals at local restaurants and free oil changes are among the auction items.
Profits from the evening will help pay for St. Paul's youth group to attend a mission trip in Myrtle Beach and a national retreat July 12-15 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
"This is the first time we have organized a fundraiser specifically to support a mission trip for our youths," St. Paul's Lutheran Church member Terry Dennis said. "Our youths will be joining others from all over the country for a Christian concert and retreat program. Our new youth director Tammy Hodges has done a great job in getting our youths more involved. We feel it is important to support this effort."
The church has combined its regular mission trip auction with the youth group's fourth annual Winter Wonderland dinner.
The menu for the meal is smothered chicken, green beans, rice pilaf, salad, bread and desserts, such as gourmet chocolate brownies.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Take out is available with purchase of a ticket.
