Fund raisers

Buford Street United Methodist Church will have a bus fund raiser Thursday, March 19, from 6-7 p.m. The all-you-can-eat chili dinner will be in the church fellowship hall on Buford Street. Career Fair

Looking for a job or career change? A Career Fair will be held Wednesday, March 18, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Broad River Electric Coop, 811 Hamrick St., across from the Nestlé Plant on Hwy. 29. The event is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. A resume writing seminar will begin at 2 p.m., sponsored by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, Broad River Electric Co-op, StaffMasters Inc. and Upstate Workforce Investment Board. Meeting

Cherokee County Republican Party will meet Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce Board Room, 225 S. Limestone St. Guest speaker will be City Councilman Boone Peeler, who will give an upstate on the city and the benefits and importance of the Chamber of Commerce. The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in becoming a member of the local Republican Party.

Gospel singing

The Pine Ridge Boys will be at Pacolet Road Baptist Church on Sunday, March 22, at 6 p.m. for a special singing.

Wanted

The Standing Rock Solid Youth Ministers' Association is looking for a big job that 500 teens can do together that will benefit Gaffney. The group will work for free for two hours on Saturday, March 21, from 2-4 p.m. If you have an idea for a project for the teens, call or email Mark, 864-489-6064 or mahfbcg@bellsouth.net.

Church news

There will be a special service Friday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St. Evangelist missionary Mike Brown of Corbin, Ky., will speak.

The Thickety Mountain Baptist Association Young Women's Auxiliary will have its Bi-Annual Program and Walking Doll Pageant on Saturday, March 21, at 5 p.m. at Limestone Baptist Church. Speaker will be the Rev. Antoinette Gardner, Associate Minister of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. A special feature of the program will be the "Walking Doll Pageant."

Senior Center events

The Gaffney Senior Center is preparing taxes for seniors at no charge. If you would like to have your taxes done, call 864-489-3868 for an appointment. Hours are 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Bring all income documents and other related tax info with you.

Support groups

AA meetings are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday at noon in the building behind Limestone Street United Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 6 p.m. For information call, 1-800-828- 5689.
