Chowan takes pair of one-run decisions to sweep doubleheader from Lady Saints

Chowan University swept Limestone College in a nonconference softball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at the Hawks Softball Complex. The Hawks won game one 4-3 and won game two 3- 2.

Limestone scored the first run of the day's first contest in the second inning. Kelsey Kuykendall tripled and scored on Kayla Hamalainen's ground out. Chowan answered in the bottom of the inning to even the score, and then scored another run in the bottom of the fourth.

Limestone took the 3-2 lead in the fifth. Alex Aburto singled and then advanced to second base after Jenna Guse walked. Jordan Smith hit a two-run single down the right field line to give Limestone the one-run advantage. However, the Hawks scored two runs in the seventh for the win.

Limestone's Smith was 2-4 with 2 RBIs, while Kuykendall was 1-3 with a run scored.
