The Gaffney Lady Indians stretched their region winning streak to six games with a convincing 10-0 victory over visiting York on Friday.

Julie Sarratt turned in another dominating performance on the mound, allowing only one hit and striking out eight for the Lady Indians, who improve to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in Region III-4A.

The Lady Indians' offense did the rest.

Katie Patterson had two RBIs with a single and double as the Lady Indians put the game away with a nine-run explosion in the fourth inning.

Jessica Ramsey started the big inning by reaching on an error. After Patterson singled and Lana Ward walked, Ashley Mabry brought Ramsey home with a single.

Sarratt followed with a sacrifice fly before Cameron Crocker singled.

Megan Sexton and Courtney Campbell had back-to-back RBI singles.

Hillary Key kept the big inning going by reaching on a fielder's choice. Ramsey, up for the second time in the inning, knocked in a run with a single before Patterson ended the scoring with a hit that scored two more runs.

"Our bats came alive in that inning," Gaffney coach Kelly Ellis said.

Gaffney's other run came in the third inning when Mabry singled and Sarratt brought her home with a hit.

The Lady Indians had 10 hits.

Gaffney will face region rival Clover for the first time today.

"We haven't seen them yet, so it's going to be a big game," Ellis said.

The Lady Indians are back in action Tuesday visiting another region foe, Nation Ford.
