CHESNEE - Lallage Raye Hawkins Gossett, 85, of 865 Keg Town Mill Road, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009.

A native of Lattimore, N.C., Mrs. Gossett was the wife of Dewey Converse Gossett and daughter of John Hawkins and Finnette Wiggins Hawkins. She worked in textiles as a spinner and was a member of Hicks Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU.

She is survived by two sons, Boyce Gossett and Bobby Gossett, both of Chesnee; a daughter, Maybelle Gossett of Powders Springs, Ga.; a sister, Martha Rudisill; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gossett was preceded in death by her first born child, Joann Gossett; a brother, Aldo Hawkins; and five sisters, Mamie Gardner Calvert, Mattie Bridges, Louise White, Loreen Cash, and Marjorie Hines.

Services were held Sunday, April 5, at 3 p.m. in Eggers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Raymond Byrd and Todd Gossett officiating. Interment was in Springhill Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gibbs Cancer Center, 101 E. Wood St., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
