Family and Friends Day will be held Sunday, April 26, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church during 11 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Marvin Tate, associate of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, will be the speaker.
The Trustee Ministry of Ebenezer Baptist Church will host its first program on Sunday, April 26, at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Lee Byers Jr., pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church, will guest speaker.
The Dial-A-Devotion of Southside Baptist Church of Gaffney is celebrating its 16th year of ministry. The telephone ministry was started in 1993 to minister to shutins, but since its inception has branched out to many others. By calling 864-489- 6444, a person will hear a list of prayer needs and a short devotional. The Dial-a-Devotion is updated Monday through Friday. People may also leave prayer requests and praises. The ministry is not just for Southside members - it is for everyone.
Revival services will be held at Faith Temple Holiness Church of Jesus Christ, 318 Buford St. Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and Saturday at noon. Brother Herman Dade Sr. will be preaching. For more information, call 864-487-5966.
Rev. Dr. Joseph Sanders- Parks and First Lady Evelyn Parks will continue their first pastoral anniversary celebration Sunday, April 26, with morning worship at 10:30. Guest speaker will be Bishop Keith Smith, pastor of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Spartanburg. The celebration will end with a 3 p.m. program. Dr. J.W. Sanders, pastor of the Bethel and Island Creek Baptist churches, will be guest speaker.
The senior citizens of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a program on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Michael Isaac, pastor of Shoals Creek Baptist Church in Laurens.
Revival services will begin Sunday, April 26, at 6 p.m. at Lavonia Baptist Church. Monday through Wednesday the services will be at 7 p.m. The Rev. Robert Hensley will bring the messages.
Abingdon Creek Baptist Church, 4075 Wilkinsville Road, will have revival services Monday, April 27, through Friday, May 1. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Tim Osment, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church.
The YWAs of Bethel Baptist Church will sponsor a "Spa Day" on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the church annex. Tickets are $10 each for the spa and $15 for the massage. The Friends of Hope Broadcasting Inc., 1180 WFGN AM, will have a WFGN Queen and King contest and WFGN Little Miss and Master contest Saturday, April 25, at 6 p.m. at the Thickety Mountain Association Building. Speaker will be Minister Antoinette Gardner.
Antioch Baptist Church of Gaffney Inc. is participating in a study with Eau Claire Health Centers Inc. and others to engage the faith-based community in an effort to eliminate barriers to receiving colonoscopies and to decrease the frequency of colon cancer in the African- American community. Anyone who would like to participate in the community-wide survey for people over 45 and plan to attend an education a session at Antioch Baptist Church, 300 Serene Drive, on Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m. should bring insurance information (insurance card) and a list of all medications. If uninsured, bring two pay stubs as proof of income and you may qualify for a free colonoscopy. Speaker for the education session will be Laurie Hill, a certified nurse midwife with a master's degree in nursing. She is also a licensed advanced practicing nurse specializing in midwifery and qualified in women's health and primary care. She is a member of Restoration Church International of Gaffney.
Rev. Paul Edwards has been called to serve as the interim pastor at Christian Heights Baptist Church on 6th Street. Sunday services are include Sunday School at 10 a.m.; morning worship at 11 a.m.; Training Union at 6 p.m.; and worship at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome.
Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church's Class No. 3 will have its annual fellowship program Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Rector, pastor of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.
Little Memorial Baptist Church, 427 Victory Trail Road, will have revival services April 26-29. The Rev. Will Vergara will be guest preacher. Sunday services will be at 6 p.m. and the Monday through Wednesday services will be at 7 p.m.
Heavenbound Baptist Church, 140 Blanton Meadow Drive, will have youth night services Saturday, April 25, at 6 p.m. A revival will be held April 26 - May 1 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Clay Poole of New Hope Baptist Church, Sugar Hill, Ga., as guest speaker.
The Women of the Word Women's Ministry of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church, 807 S. Johnson St., is sponsoring a "Unity Breakfast" on Saturday, April 25, at 9 a.m. All ages are invited.
Gospel singings
The Hamptons will sing at Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls on Sunday, April 26, at 6 p.m.
True Gospel Independent Baptist Church, 312 Pondfield Road, will have a singing featuring the Vessels of Praise on Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
The Lewis Family of Lincolnton, Ga., perform their 40th annual concert at the Ellenboro Elementary School on Sunday, April 26, at 2:30 p.m. Admission: is $10 at the door for adults, $2 for children
and under 6 are free. Proceeds go to Hospice of Rutherford County.
Fundraisers
The Gaffney Little Lady Indians Girls AAU basketball team will be having a car wash at O'Reilly Auto Parts on Floyd Baker Boulevard on Saturday, April 25. Cars will be washed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Theatre
Limestone College Theatre will presents Moonlight and Magnolias by Ron Hutchinson on April 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. All performances are at Fullerton Auditorium. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students with valid identification. Because of some adult language and subject matter, children and sensitive viewers should consider whether or not to attend this production carefully.
