By SCOTT POWELL Ledger Staff Writer
Summertime has called The Catalinas back to the South Carolina Peach Festival. The Catalinas will perform in concert Saturday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Peach Beach event in the Broad River Electric Co-Op Auditorium. The Charlotte beach music group is best known for its 1975 song "Summertime's Calling Me," which fans recently voted the No. 4 beach music song of all time. The Catalinas previously performed at the 2006 Peach Festival. Since The Catalinas formed in late 1957, more than 60 musicians, horn players and singers have performed with the band. They have opened for such groups as the Temptations, The Four Tops and even The Monkees. Tickets for the Peach Beach concert are $20 and will only be sold in advance.
