Rebecca Wright

Rebecca Sue Rains Wright, 62, of 523 W. Montgomery St., Apt. 4, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of Blanch Floyd Rains of Gaffney and the late Etoise Rains. Mrs. Wright was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was also the mascot for the graduating Class of 1950, Blacksburg High School.

Also surviving are a son, Jerry Lee Wright Jr. of Blacksburg; two daughters, Kris Elliott and May Denton and husband, Jason, all of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Andrea White, Jacob Wright, Heaven Wright, Matthew Denton and Logan Denton; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Davis, Daisha White, Candace Hardin, Levi White and Allee Davis; three brothers, Roger Rains and wife, Diane, of Shelby, Steve Rains and wife, Wanda, of Blacksburg and Ike Rains and wife, Gay, of Taylors; four sisters, Ginger Ayers and husband, Bill, of Blacksburg, Dolly Davis and husband, Bruce, of Spartanburg, Nancy Upchurch and husband, Rodney, of Blacksburg and Debbie Purser and husband, Ron, of Blacksburg; nine nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 7, from 3-4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Lanier officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, South Carolina Chapter, P.O. Box 1427, Easley, SC 29641.

The family will be at the home of May Denton, 173 Williams Road.
