Fire departments in the eastern half of Cherokee County will be joining forces this Saturday to hold a Family Fun Day in Blacksburg.

Now in its second year, the family fun day will be held at the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Sponsored by Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department, CKC Fire Department, Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department and Antioch Volunteer Fire Department, Saturday's event will feature games and prizes for children, as well as free hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Blacksburg Fire Department Chief Clay Greer said the event is aimed at children and educating them about the jobs of police, firemen and paramedics, as well as about safety issues.

The event is open to all local children and their families.

In the event of rain, the family fun day will be held inside the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department headquarters.
