POLICE REPORT
A burglar or burglars stole more than $1,800 in property from a Teague Road home during a May 6 burglary, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
Police said someone gained entry to the home in the 100 block by tossing a brick through a glass door.
The thief or thieves took a silver bag containing a Dell laptop computer and charger, $130 cash, a gold wedding band with diamond chips and a metal box containing personal documents.
Damage is estimated at an additional $1,700.
A Limestone College student from Scotland was cited for assault and malicious damage May 6 after he allegedly shoved a campus security officer and subsequently damaged a sidewalk while burning his books.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, Michael McEmerson, 22, of Glasgow, Scotland, allegedly was observed urinating in public while on campus. When a campus security officer went to escort him to the public safety office, McEmerson allegedly pushed the officer and struggled with him.
Later, the officer was notified of a fire behind the Timken Gym and discovered that McEmerson was burning his books, according to the Gaffney Police Department.
Officers put out the fire, which allegedly caused about $100 in damage to a sidewalk.
Two pistols and electronics were reported stolen following a May 6 burglary.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, the burglary occurred at a David Pelzer Boulevard residence.
A North American Arms .22- magnum pistol, a Taurus .22- magnum pistol, a rented high definition Blue Ray player, and a black bag containing $30 in change and a wrench, were taken.
The stolen items are valued at $1,350, making the theft a grand larceny.
A city man learned his storage locker had been burglarized May 6 after he received a call from a Lancaster
County detective that a safe containing some of his personal
information had been recovered there.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, the man's self-storage locker at 925 N. Logan St. apparently was entered between April 22 and May 6.
Missing from the locker, in addition to the safe recovered in Lancaster County, were a Playstation 3 game system, a camcorder and games.
Theft losses are estimated at $1,050.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the theft of an elderly man's wallet by a woman who claimed she needed a shower.
According to a police report, an 84-year-old Wilkinsville Highway man let an unknown white female into his home May 5 at 9:45 a.m. so she could take a shower and dry her clothes.
When the woman left, the man told police he checked his pants and discovered his wallet containing $335 was missing.
An ATM card accidentally left in a Gaffney bank's ATM machine was used to make $1,300 in purchases in Florence.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, a 31-year-old city woman accidentally left her ATM card in a machine at the Bank of America on West Floyd Baker Boulevard at about 3:30 p.m. May 3.
The woman believed the driver of the car next in line took her card when she pulled away. The woman called the bank to inform them of the loss of her card but was advised it had already been used for purchases in Florence.
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating the shoplifting of clothes from a Prime Outlets — Gaffney business.
According to a police report, two women entered The Children's Place at about 10:45 a.m. May 5 and left the store with about $42 in clothing.
A witness was able to give police the make and North Carolina license plate of the car the women were driving.
A statue was stolen from a Goucher School Road property.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone took a horse statue from a property in the 400 block between 8 a.m. May 3 and noon May 4.
