City poised to pass very lean budget

City residents get their chance today to comment on the city's proposed $10.9 million budget that holds the line on taxes and salaries and that was described by the city administrator as "very, very, very lean." County will have to move funds around

Cherokee County Council will consider final reading today of its proposed fiscal year $19.1 million spending plan. The proposed spending plan has no tax hikes, salary increases or new capital spending. Mae Sue Gaffney, 102, of 816 S. Johnson St., died Thursday, 9:30 p.m., in her home. Widow of Reddick Gaffney, she was born in Chesnee, a daughter of the late Lula Smith. She was a member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Mother of the Church, member of the Jubilee Choir, Missionary, Flower Committee , and Willing Workers. More...
