Woods will introduce his book, "Thirty Years of Hate," during CHAPS' Americana festivities. As Independence Day draws near, the Cherokee County History & Arts Museum, at 301 College Drive in Gaffney, has dedicated Saturday, June 27 to Americana. The Museum will be open extended hours that day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dr. Bobby Moss will begin the day, speaking from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on local history, with a focus on the American Revolution. With both Cowpens and Kings Mountain battlefields located in Cherokee County, locals played a pivotal role in American Independence.

Bobby Gilmer Moss was born, and still lives, about equal distance between the Revolutionary War battle sites of Kings Mountain and Cowpens. For most of his life, he has been gathering information on the individuals who participated in the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, specifically from the battle of Moores Creek Bridge to the battle of Yorktown.

He holds a B. A. Degree from Wake Forest Univeristy; a B. D. Degree and M. Div. Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky; a M.A Degree from University of Virginia; and a Ph.D. Degree from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. In 1993, Limestone College conferred on him the honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters.

At 11:30 a.m., Roger L. Woods will introduce his book, "Thirty Years of Hate," followed by a book signing.

Reviewer Mikki Bennett of The Civil War Courier writes, "One of the only books to be endorsed by several historical societies and sites, R.L. Wood's book of a former Civil War soldier, turned gunslinger, is a wonderful blend of historical facts and fictional events."

The book has been endorsed by the United States Department of the Interior National Park Service Chief Ranger Steve Black, as well as the Museum and Library of Confederate History.

Museum Director Ron Hamilton describes the book as "based on historic fact and is an educational and enjoyable read. The author has a fine grasp of the War Between the States."

Nothing is more American than hamburgers, hot dogs, and classic cars so cruise on up to Long John Silvers/ A&W at Exit 92 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for food, fun, and music at the "Cruise-In for History."

A percentage of sales during that time period will be donated to the History & Arts Museum. In addition, pre-registration for September's Fall Classic Car Show will be taking place.
