Era Gardner
Era Byars Gardner, 89, formerly of E. Smith Street, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Brookview Healthcare.
Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Thomas W. Gardner and the daughter of the late Joseph Byars and Dorthula Floyd Byars. Mrs. Gardner was a homemaker and a member of High Point Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Wayne Gardner and wife, Edith of Gaffney; a daughter, Millie G. Dixon and husband, Billy of Augusta, GA; five grandchildren, Lisa Bell, Tommy Gardner and wife, Tabitha, Gina D. Lucas and husband, Jarrod, Meg D. Day and husband, Shelly, and Patrick Dixon; nine great-grandchildren, Erin Bell, Katlin Bell, Emily L. Scheff and husband, Joe, Alicia L. Roper and husband, Jason, Sean Dixon, Andrew Day, Katie Dixon, Joseph Lucas and Peyton Day; and four great-great grandchildren, Luke Roper, Lane Roper, London Roper and Owen Scheff.
Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Byars; three sisters, Inez Thompson, Vera Petty and Oveda Scruggs; two grandchildren, Amy Rebecca Dixon, Jason Matthew Dixon; and a great grandchild, Ansley Day.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Oakland Cemetery with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
The family is at the home of Wayne and Edith Gardner, 101 Cambridge Circle.
