Hospice Care of South Carolina names new Social Services coordinator

SPARTANBURG - Rena Carter has been promoted to the newly created position of Social Services Coordinator for Hospice Care of South Carolina.

In her new role, Carter will coordinate, develop, and maintain quality and evaluation systems for the Social Services Department of Hospice Care of South Carolina. She will provide support and leadership in department and organization policy and procedure implementation and will assure that all expectations are met.

In her new role, Carter will continue to work closely with The Regional Social Service Director and The Director of Support Services in evaluating the effectiveness of social services provided and to develop and enhance the techniques and/or procedures for implementation consistent with the standards of the social work profession and of Hospice Care of South Carolina in the delivery of care. She will be traveling the state to provide training/ coaching to new and current social work staff to enhance their performance, development, and service delivery.

Rena has been with Hospice Care of South Carolina since Jan. 2001, where she began as a field social worker with the organization. Rena looks forward to the opportunities, and challenges of a new position.

She holds a BSW from Winthrop University and brings over 25 years experience to Hospice Care of South Carolina.

"Rena's contributions to the social work department have been tremendous in both direct patient care and in a leadership position," said Janine Fulton, Director of Support Services. "She is dedicated, dependable and genuinely cares about others and HCSC.

In her new role, Rena will be able to utilize and share her strong points of organization, patience, and knowledge of social work on a broader scale to enhance and benefit the day to day functioning and excellent service delivery from the social work department."
