Post 109 juniors improve to 3-0
Post 109 Junior team coach Travis Clary has a word with his team. The Post 109 Junior team remained unbeaten but it wasn't easy on Monday.
Post 109 blew a 4-run lead in the bottom of the seventh but answered with two runs in the eighth to hang on for a dramatic 10-8 win at Lancaster.
Post 109 improves to 3-0, while Lancaster drops to 4-2.
Jonathan Smith gave up five runs through five innings before being replaced by Ryan Greene, who picked up the win after surviving a shaky seventh inning.
After Lancaster rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings, Greene and Clay McKowen had the RBI hits in the top of the eighth that proved to be the winning margin.
Post 109 struck for four runs in the top of the first. Matt Gault and Smith had the RBI hits in the inning. Post 109 added four runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Josh Mata and Greene and a 2-run double off the bat of McKowen to extend its lead to 8-1.
Lancaster scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to pull within 8-4.
Mata, Greene, McKowen and Smith all had two hits for Post 109.
Post 109's home game on Tuesday against Chester was rained out.
