Bible schools

Vacation Bible School will be held June 22-26 from 5-7 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 308 College Drive. The bible school is designed for children, youths and adults. Each evening will begin with a simple supper. To register or for more information, call 864-489-6183.

Vacation Bible School, themed "Crocodile Dock," will be held June 22-26 at Blacksburg First Baptist Church. There is no need to preregister. The program starts with a light snack supper at 5:30 p.m. and will dismiss nightly at 8:30. Call the church office for more information, (864) 839-2421.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blacksburg will have Vacation Bible School June 22-25 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Fairview Baptist Church, 505 Fairview Road, will have Vacation Bible School, themed "Boomerang Express," June 22-25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be classes for ages three through grade 12. Call 864-812- 6032 for more information.

Vacation Bible School will be held June 22-25 from 6-8 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 218 Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane. Classes will be provided for all ages and refreshments will be served.

Church news

The Voice of Triumph will hold its annual youth camp and convention at the church located at 179 Corry Road in Blacksburg from June 24-26. The Wednesday night service will be held at 7 p.m., with service times the following days at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. The evening speaker will be "Big Mo" Ostranger of Dothan, Ala., with various speakers in the morning services. Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, will host its third Saturday singing June 20 at 7 p.m. Guests will be In His Glory, Brothers and Sisters, and The Hamptons.

Shady Grove Baptist Church Sunday School will have a 'Life Explosion' and 'Fun Day' on Saturday, June 27. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the "Living for Life" classes beginning at 10 a.m. There will be classes for all age groups beginning with kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, young adults and adults. There will be classes on nutrition and obesity, "What Does Christ Say?" teen pregnancy, violence and guns, drugs and alcohol, diabetes, the Deaconship, deaconesses, trustees and others. The "Fun Day" will begin in the afternoon and there will be plenty of hot dogs, a fish fry, sodas, softball, water slide, and fun and games for all. The Life Explosion teachers will include Rev. Antoinette Gardner from WFGN 1180, Charlean Hunter, cheerleading classes with Crystal Shippy, Minister Chris Hawk from Shelby, N.C., Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Teen Pregnancy Center, and others. All churches and youths are invited to come and enjoy a day of learning and fun.

New Trinity CFM will begin having Sunday School on June 21 at 9 a.m. Regular worship service is at 10 a.m.

Mount Zion Baptist Church and the Rev. A.L. Brackett invite the public to their annual Men's Day program on Sunday, June 28. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Danny Burnside, pastor of Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Father's Day services will be held June 21 during the 11 a.m. worship service. Deacon Alonzo Jeter of Gaffney will be the speaker.

Fund raisers

The Corinth Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary and Corinth Baptist Church will have a fund raiser on Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist church to raise money for Johnny Toney, a Corinth resident who has cancer. Hot dogs and baked goods will be sold. There will also be a car wash.

Senior Center

The Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Avenue, will have a health fair/expo on Friday, June 19, from 9-11 a.m. There will be cholesterol checks, glucose checks, and blood pressure and foot screenings. Festivals

Support groups AA meetings are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday at noon in the building behind Limestone Street United Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 6 p.m. For information call 1-800-828-5689.

Education

The Cherokee County Adult Education Program is offering the official Practice GED Test on Saturday, June 27, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Cherokee Community Learning Center, 243 Allison Drive. The cost is $15. GED applications will be available for candidates who wish to take the GED exam on July 11 in Gaffney. For more information, call (864) 487-7152.
