Cherokee receiving recovery act funds
2009-06-19 / Local News
All counties in the 5th Congressional District are receiving funds through the Recovery Act for Emergency Food and Shelter Programs, according to U.S. Rep. John Spratt (D - S.C.).
"These funds will be used to supplement food, shelter, rent, mortgage and utility assistance
for people with non-disaster related emergencies," Spratt said. "The goal is to bring immediate relief to communities to address unemployment and poverty. I am delighted all the counties in the 5th District are receiving funding."
Cherokee County is receiving $26,988 through the Department of Homeland Security's Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
