Scholarship winner announced
The Commissioners of the Cherokee Soil and Water Conservation District are pleased to announce that Christopher T. Lemaster, Jr is the recipient of the 2009 Conservation District Scholarship.
Lemaster is a graduate of Gaffney High School, where he has been involved in a number of school activities including FCA, FFA and Beta Club.
Chris served as secretary of Green Teen's, Gaffney High's environmental club. Chris has competed in competitions such as soil judging, tool identification, and forestry events. He also participated on an Envirothon team and attended the South Carolina Commissioner's School of Agriculture.
Chris has played various sports for school and church. He also works for Lemaster Grain and runs a small lawn care business.
Chris has been accepted at Clemson University this fall where he plans to major in Agriculture. The Conservation District awards a scholarship annually to a deserving high school senior planning to major in natural resources or a related field.
