BLACKSBURG- Arthur Martin, 84, of 111 Leagan Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Valier, Ill., he was the husband of Margaret Catherine Wylie Martin and son of the late Octave Martin and Hermina Brault Martin.

He was a graduate

of Jayton

High School in Texas. He was a World War II United States Army Air Corp veteran, having received the American Theater Campaign medal with five bronze stars and one bronze arrowhead, a Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Martin was a retired television repairman and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Bonita Hullender and husband, Joel, of Blacksburg, Matilda Wille and husband, Brian, of Spartanburg and Regina Upchurch and husband, James, of Gaffney; two sisters; six grandchildren, Bryan Hullender and wife, Rebekah, Arthur Secrest and wife, April, Michael Secrest, Shannon Jackson and husband, Josh, Bryce Wille and Trevor Wille; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 22, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home, Gaffney.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.

The family will be at the home of Joel and Bonita Hullender, 396 Cherokee Ford Road, Blacksburg.
