Thelma Jones King, 81, of High Point, N.C., died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at her residence.

Born May 3, 1928, in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Earl and Martha Henrietta Knight Jones. She had lived most of her life in the Spartanburg area before moving to High Point along with her daughter and son-in-law in 2005. She was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a secretary in the textile industry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Buck Jones, and a sister, Edith Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda King Thornton and husband, Bill, of High Point, and Janice Elizabeth Haring of St. George, Utah; two grandsons, Marc Haring and wife, Gabrielle, and Brent Haring and wife, Mary; four great-grandchildren, Vonnegut and Imogen Haring and Bree and Riley Jensen; and a sister Betty Lou Bolin of Blacksburg.

Per Ms. King's request, her body will be donated to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and no formal services will be held.
