Post 109's Michael Hughey scampers into third base during a game earlier this season against Union. The rivals meet today at Commissionrers Field. The balls screamed off the Post 109's bats - culminating with 21 hits and a 19-6 victory over at Greer Saturday in a game that was as loud as it was long.

Bryan Parsons was 5 for 6 with three RBIs and Ryan Westbrook doubled and homered and knocked in four runs as Post 109 improved to 6-0.

"We're hitting the ball pretty good," Post 109 coach Jeff Osment said. "But the kids can't be satisfied. They have to keep on getting better."

Rewind to the first inning ...

Post 109, fresh off a 6-0 victory at Inman on Friday, scored four times in the first.

McCrae Norton and Westbrook reached on walks before Parsons, Josh Mata and Michael Hughey each followed with RBI singles.

John Michaels' sacrifice fly drove home the final run of the inning.

Greer answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning but Post 109 added a run in the second on Westbrook's solo homer and two in the third to go on top 7-2.

Jackson's sacrifice fly knocked in Parsons with a run in the fifth inning.

Post 109 had a chance to end the game on the 10-run rule but mustered only three runs in the seventh for an 11-2 advantage. Westbrook and Parsons had the RBIs in the inning.

Post 109 continued its offensive onslaught with three more runs in the eighth when Jackson singled, stole second and scored on Michaels' double before Norton had an RBI double and later scored on an error.

In the team's five-run ninth, Westbrook had a 2-run double while Jackson and Tyler Wilson added RBI hits.

Mata, Jackson, Michaels, Lee Gerwick and Hughey all had three hits, while Norton singled and doubled.

Westbrook went seven innings to pick up the win. He wasn't very sharp, allowing 11 hits and three runs, but the Post 109 defense came up big, turning three double plays.

On Friday, Jason Biershenk was the story, scattering eight hits and striking out six to earn the shutout win. He didn't issue a walk until the ninth inning. He also was aided by solid defensive play, with four double plays.

Post 109 scored twice in the second and added three more runs in the fourth to take control of the game.

Norton and Jackson each had three hits for Post 109.

Gerwick also had three hits for Post 109, which hosts Union today at 7 p.m.
