Helen Jean Best Jones, 81, of 1012 Cherokee Ave., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 19, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Andrews, N.C., she was the widow of William Poole and Donald Jones and daughter of the late J.W. Best and Nettie Adams Best. She was retired from Gaffney Manufacturing and Days Inn and attended Northeast Fellowship Church of God.

Surviving are five sons, William Poole and wife, Kathie, of Kankakee, Ill., Joseph Poole and wife, Janet, of Gaffney, Dennis (Mike) Poole and wife, Valarie, of Louisville, Ohio, Timothy Poole of Hagerstown, Md., and Phillip Jones of Rock Hill; a daughter, Dawn Poole Stratton and husband, Bobby, of Gaffney; 10 grandchildren, Michael Poole, Kevin Poole, Ashley Ruppe, Jeffrey Poole, Denise Davis, Melissa Capitano, Rebecca Wilson, Todd Poole, Stephen Jones and Jesse Jones; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Best of Gaffney; and two sisters, Beulah Harris of Gaffney and Ethel Turner of Spartanburg.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur Best, Howard Best, Wallace Best and Joe Best, and two sisters, Daisy Gardin and Ruby Vassey Childers.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 22, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 12 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs James Garner and Sidney Norton officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Members of the family will be at their respective homes.
