Local Democrat Party leader steps down
Olin Huffman will succeed 25-year chair Gayle Phillips
      Bob Peeler was a Democrat, Ronald Reagan was president and Tip O'Neil was ruling the House of Representatives. That was the political environment more than 25 years ago when Gayle Phillips was elected as the Cherokee County Democrat Party chairman.

POLICE REPORTS
      Two women were arrested for shoplifting nearly $600 in clothing from the Prime Outlets — Gaffney on June 20. According to the Gaffney Police Department, an officer was called to the outlets at about 3:40 p.m. and told three women had stolen items and were about to leave.
