Jack Sherron Morgan, 83, of 403 Oak Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Martha Jean Jolly Morgan and son of the late Baxter Morgan and Eula Sparks Morgan. He was a farmer and former board member of the Grassy Pond Water Company, and was also retired from the textile industry and the Cherokee County School District. Mr. Morgan was a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and choir member.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Barry Morgan and wife, Susi, of Gaffney; a daughter, Mary Martha Baskin and husband, Wayne, of Easley; five grandchildren, Ashley Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Kelsey Morgan, Morgan Baskin and Meredith Baskin; a brother, Don Morgan and wife, Tatie, of Gaffney; and a sister, Jean Hughey and husband, Leonard, of Gaffney.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by a grandchild, Maddie Baskin.

Services were held Thursday, June 25, at 1:30 p.m. at Grassy Pond Baptist church, conducted by the Revs. Terry Lanford and Martin Hogg officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 12-1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family will be at the residence.
