Gaffney golfer in elite company
      Former Gaffney High and USC Upstate standout men's golfer Josh Gallman is in elite company. Gallman is ranked 91st among amateur players in the United States, in the latest GOLFWEEK/Amateurgolf.com rankings. If that's not impressive enough, he's ranked 217 in the world amateur rankings and is 144th in the current World Amateur Player of the Year standings.

Biershenk lifts Post 109 past Greer
      Post 109's Jason Biershenk had to work a little harder than normal for this win. Biershenk pitched a seven hitter in another complete game, Ryan Westbrook homered and tripled and Post 109 beat Greer 5-3 on Thursday to improve to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in League VI standings.

Indians show fire at passing league
      For decades, a never-saylose spirit has been the hallmark of the Gaffney High football team. The 2009 edition apparently will be no exception. The Indians displayed that competitive spirit at its passing league matchups in the Triad area of North Carolina on Wednesday.

No surprise: Griffin taken No. 1 by Clippers
      On a day of head-turning trades around the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers made the obvious choice to start the draft. The Clippers selected Blake Griffin with the No. 1 pick Thursday night, grabbing the only player considered a sure thing in a class full of question marks.
