Businessman foils burglary
A Stacy Drive businessman not only foiled a burglary but likely found important evidence.
According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, an area man received a call from a friend early June 25 that someone was messing around with his store, Traffic Jamz, on Stacy Drive. Police said the man went immediately to his store and saw two males running from the scene upon his arrival.
After calling police, the businessman noticed a car parked in his lot as well as
tools, rubber gloves, a stocking cap and a shirt that had been cut up to form a face mask.
A responding Gaffney Police Department officer took all of the tools, gloves and mask into evidence. Police said they further discovered that the 45-day tag on the vehicle discovered in the parking lot was not registered to the vehicle.
While police did not provide immediate information about the found vehicle's ownership, they said they did check the vehicle identification number against vehicle records. The car was towed from the scene and was being held in storage pending investigation.
Police did not list any theft or damage losses.
No charges had been reported as of June 26.
