Joe Vinesett
Harley Joe Vinesett, 82, of 508 Chesnee Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Grace Phillips Vinesett and son of the late B.B. Vinesett
and Ollie McCraw
Vinesett. Mr. Vinesett
was formerly employed by Shuford- Hatcher Funeral Home for 35 years and served as Cherokee County Coroner for 22 years. He was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, an avid gardener and golfer.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Mike Vinesett and wife, Kay, of Gaffney; a daughter, Rita Scalf and husband, Jerry, of Gaffney; a brother, Travis Vinesett and wife, Barbara, of Spartanburg; three sisters, Rue Mayfield and husband, Don, of Gaffney, Juanita Shaw and husband, Bill, of Bayonett Point, Fla., and Lena Martin and husband, Andrew, of Evans, Ga.; five grandchildren, Natalie Porter, Clay Vinesett, Heather Vinesett, Harley Scalf and Lee Scalf; five great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vinesett was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Turner.
Services will be held Monday, June 29, at 3 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was held Sunday, June 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
