New Lions Club inducts members, installs officers
Guiding Lion Dianne J. Pitts, Ph. D. conducted the installation of new officers and induction of new members of the Cherokee County Lions Club following an informal dinner at the Aegean Pizza Restaurant in Gaffney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19. Officers present during the ceremony included David Wall, president; David Rogers, vice president; Jimbo Martin, Lion tamer; and Claudia Duckett, secretary. Also installed, but not attending the event, were membership officer, Brian Ware and treasurer, Renee Smith. New Lions Club members who were present included Pam Wall, Loretta O'Donald and Doug Guthrie. In her remarks to the group Dr. Pitts compared the various offices and general membership of the club to the head, hands and feet of an individual - all being essential parts of the whole.
On behalf of the Cherokee County Lions Club, President David Wall presented a plaque in appreciation to Guiding Lion Pat Canon, who has assisted in getting the new club started, chartered, and organized throughout the first year. Wall also presented the Lion of the Year award to Loretta O'Donald, who demonstrated outstanding leadership as chair of the club's successful first fundraiser in April.
