Two people shot, one fatally Thursday night

Another horrific scene played out Thursday night in Gaffney as two more people have been shot and at least one killed.

A throng of police officers responded in full force to Tyler Home Center on East Frederick Street just after 7 p.m. upon reports of two people shot, one fatally.

The deceased victim has been identified as Stephen Tyler and the injured person as his daughter Abby.

One of two shooting victims discovered at Tyler Home Center in Gaffney on Thursday night is airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. The victim's identity and condition were not immediately available.
The female victim removed from the scene was flown by helicopter to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from the nearby Gaffney Middle School parking lot.

The task force assembled to investigate the three murders that have already occurred in the northwest corner of Cherokee County all converged at the city crime scene.

Investigators declined comment late Thursday and said they likely would not be releasing any information until Friday morning.

In the midst of all the commotion on East Frederick Street, nearly half the investigators tore off at a high rate of speed to join in a reported chase in the area of Highway 11 and Old Post Road. Details are sketchy but reports indicate the chase might have been unrelated to the Tyler Home Center incident.

Police would not say if Thursday night's incident is related to the previous three homicides.

We will continue to update this story as more details become available.
