John Michaels John Michaels Post 109 manager Jeff Osment summed up John Michaels' home run show the best.

"He saw some good pitches and he hit them."

Did he ever. Michaels slugged a pair of 2-run homers and drove in six runs to help Post 109 clinch a tie for the League VI championship with a 16- 5 victory at Union on Tuesday. The game was shortened to seven innings because of the 10-run rule.

Michaels wasn't Post 109's only offensive threat. McCrae Norton also homered and had two hits, while Bubba Wright and Bobby Jackson each had a pair of hits for surging Post 109, which improved to 12-0 overall and 11-0 in the league standings.

Post 109 put the game away with a 7- run explosion in the fourth inning. Jackson, Michael Hughey and Wright each singled before Michaels was hit by a pitch to force home a run. Lee Gerwick followed with a RBI single. Norton then walked to bring in another run. Bryan Parsons doubled home two more runs before Jackson capped the scoring with a run-producing single.

Jason Biershenk struggled at times, but he picked up the win.

While Tuesday's game was a laugher, Monday's game against Inman was a nailbiter. Trailing by as many as five runs, Post 109 rallied for five runs in the seventh to tie it at 7.

Post 109's Michael Wright was the ninth-inning hero, singling home the winning run for an 8-7 victory.

Reliever Corey Crissone went three innings and was credited with the win.

Post 109 will travel to Spartanburg today.
