Helen Collins

Helen Lee Davis Collins, 84, of 3463 Curtis Road, Mooresboro, N.C., died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Crawley Memorial Hospital in Boiling Springs.

Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Monroe Davis and Mandy Ella Wesson Davis. She retired as a spinner and was a member of Bread of Life Baptist Church in Lattimore, N.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Odell Sisk; a daughter, Mary Bruce Evans; three brothers, Howard Davis, John Davis and Thomas "Bo" Davis; and a sister, Mary Sue Beason.

Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Billy Ray Collins; two daughters, Louise Russ of Shelby and Judy Failen of Pacolet; two sons, Walker Sisk of Newton, N.C., and Dale Sisk of Shelby; a sister, Alma Blanton of Gaffney; three step-daughters, Sandy Collins of Monroe, N.C., Peggy Dawson of Lawndale, N.C., and Betty Hayes of Shelby; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other children, Roger Payne, Tom Payne, Scott Payne, Cindy Lee and Libby Johnson.

A graveside services will be held Saturday, July 4, at 11:15 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston, N.C., with Brother Thomas McPherson and Pastor Ed KuyKendall officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover height Drive, Shelby, N.C. 28150.
