College Drive, Triangle Road and North Charleston Street are among the 21 roads slated for resurfacing by Cherokee County Council.

The list is subject to change and excludes resurfacing projects in the City of Gaffney.

Cherokee County Council will open bids for the road projects at Monday's meeting. The road projects should begin in August.

A year ago, the county received a C-Fund allocation of nearly $1 million. However, that figure has dipped to about $630,000 this year because of a drop in gas tax revenues.

Councilman Charles Mathis, who has the most amount of road miles in his district, received the largest appropriation of $113,031. He will use that money to resurface six roads, including Camp Drive, Hames Road and Triangle Road.

District 2 councilman Bailey Humphries had the next-largest appropriation of $96,519, but has no roads appearing on the project list.

Councilman James Batchler received $88,506 to pave Leagan Street and North Charleston Street in District 7, while District 6 councilman Hoke Parris got $69,931 for paving projects in his district, including South View, North View and East View.

District 3 Councilman Quay Little will spend his $50,384 on the College Drive project. District 4 Councilman Tim Spencer got $22,582 and has picked Blanton Drive and Pryor Street for resurfacing.

District 1 Councilman Rufus Foster will use his $10,000 appropriation to pave North Granard Street Extension and Short Alley.

Although there was some talk the county would reduce its C-Fund allocation to municipalities, it kept the funding levels for those municipalities at $150,000 for the City of Gaffney and $35,000 for the Town of Blacksburg, which will use its funds to pave Whitaker Street, Land Street and Cookey Street.
